Monday - Oatmeal
Chocolate Banana Sweetened Oatmeal - still a favorite
Overnight Steel Cut Oats - my favorite way to eat them is with frozen sweet cherries
Plain oatmeal with various toppings - frozen blueberries and sliced banana is the kids' favorite. My current favorite is this cookie in bowl form with brown sugar, craisins, coconut, and if I have them, a few white chocolate chips
Tuesday - Eggs
Scrambled eggs and toast, muffins, or smoothies. Lauren finally likes scrambled eggs, especially since she can make them herself.
Wednesday - Pancakes or Waffles
Perfect Pancakes - my favorite everyday recipe
Cottage Cheese Pancakes
Blender Pancakes - now that I have a decent blender, I can make these
Classic Buttermilk Waffles - I double so I have enough to freeze for another meal
Overnight Buckwheat Oat Buttermilk Waffles - I haven't made these yet, but I really want to
Thursday - Yogurt
I'm not a big yogurt fan, but the kids are, so I'm trying to make it regularly using my Instant Pot, following these tips. We have it with toast, muffins, or granola.
Friday - German Pancakes, French Toast, or Baked Oatmeal
German pancakes seem like a special breakfast, but I find them really easy for a weekday morning since you just mix and stick in the oven - no standing over a griddle or waffle iron. And, I tried to figure the cost and with current prices found that a pan equals just about $1 to make. I cut our 9x13 pan into four pieces and it is devoured fast. I might have to start doubling the recipe soon.
Lauren learned how to make french toast and now thinks she's ready for the Kid's Baking Championship.
I refuse to buy cold cereal usually, so that makes mornings cheaper for me. Our go to if I don't have a plan is toast or oatmeal. If I make yogurt we have yogurt with fruit and granola. Other than that I most commonly have German pancakes or muffins. I love pancakes, but hate standing there to cook them.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I really like cream of wheat with an egg cooked in and a dash of nutmeg. It is so good.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a good idea for us. So would weekly meal plans since I gave on the monthly shopping. Brian has oatmeal almost every day. The kids and I have oatmeal, cream of wheat, or cold cereal most often. I would probably do a green smoothie day. It's the only way I can get Owen to eat greens.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me feel really lazy. Usually Camille has demanded breakfast before I get up.
ReplyDeleteEggs. We have eggs a ton.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I made cottage cheese pancakes this morning and they were a hit with Dad and Sherri. And Haley. She ate six of them. I like making those pancakes; I feel better about them.
I love German pancakes, but they take too long for Russell and Meghan. They do request them often.
ReplyDeleteOur favorite oatmeal is with diced apple, raisins, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
I'd like to try Janet's cream of wheat with an egg sometime.
We were doing pancakes on Saturday, but since my birthday we have had waffles every Saturday. Ben does Saturday breakfast since I'm usually still (trying to) sleep in bed.
